Well,*_* ( Not impressed with myself )
I colored it with another program called oC ( open canvas ) my friend gave me over MSN Not to long ago, and it turned out to be a very very very very very AMAZINGLY created program. ( It was simplifyed for my slow mind ). You could say its my alternative of PS 7.0. I would use PS but I want to get familiar with layer and junk^_^. It probibly would have looked better if I was more familiar with the program from the start. I guess you can say it was pure trail and error,  Anyway I hope you enjoy this picture.^_^ |

While I personally like the monochromatic colouring in this picture, it could use a bit of variation to seperate the person from the sword. Try creating yet another new layer, and using some other colour (de-saturated green [green + grey] would probably work well in this case) add some more shadows. Don't worry about how dark they are... once you're finished adding the shadows, reduce the layer opacity [next to the preview of each layer, there is a little bar with a slider on it; slide the bar to the left] as much as you like.
Also, adding each colour on a seperate layer is helpful. Later on, if you want, you can merge the layers together (see my tutorial) so that all of the colour is on one layer.
Just keep practicing.
